Meet the TechKnowKids Founders
Edilia and Geofrey are the founders of TechKnowKids. They are a husband and wife team running a family business for local families. They have two children who currently attend university.
Edilia has more than 10 years of experience in large scale technology and change management projects for government departments including Aviation, Transport, Social Security and the Australian Taxation Office. She has considerable adult training experience having worked in logistics, IT support, human resource management and recruitment. Formerly the first manager for the Child Support Agency for NSW and the ACT she has worked on joint management union project review teams and Federal parliamentary inquiries. Following a successful career in the public service she was offered a role with an international IT consultancy firm and completed projects for the Federal Airports Corporation and Qantas before escaping corporate life to start her family.
Having her own children is what led her to creating this computer education service for the early childhood sector seeking to combine her skills with a better timetable for family life. She has successfully operated the business with her husband Geofrey since 1996. The computer education model she created for children enabled her to utilise her technology training skills, creativity and imagination combined with a great sense of fun to create a unique learning opportunity for children that is highly acclaimed by parents and educators alike.
Geofrey is the other half of the team who is known to children as GEOF! GEOF! GEOF! or to parents as Computer Geof, the Famous Geof, Super Dad or the Kid Magnet. Parents and educators alike think his rapport with small children is exceptional-despite his furry face. He has a great sense of fun, is a terrific story teller and the kids hang on his every word. When he walks into the centre everyone stops to rush over to say hello to Geof. He is regularly invited to more 4 year old birthday parties than he can possibly attend.
Prior to joining the TechKnowKids enterprise he successfully ran his own construction company for 14 years but seeking to work in an area that gave him more time to spend with his family he made the switch to working with technology and small children. He has worked full time in computer education since 1996.
Both Edilia and Geof hold current Certificates for Self Employed People in Child Related Employment and parents can view a copy of the certificate held by the director or owner in the centre. Between them Edilia and Geof have decades of experience working in this specialty and have taught literally thousands of children to wide acclaim from parents and educators alike since 1996.
